ぐちゃぐちゃ / Gucha Gucha is my side project/shop that I run with my life and creative partner, Maksim Barkhatov. We collaborated on a collection with local Chicago, jeweler and art curator, The Vintage Royalty. The earrings and artwork were a collaboration with The Vintage Royalty but the photography and art direction was a Gucha Gucha in-house project. This was a campaign that hits all the notes of 80s and 90s nostalgia.
The Instant Savings Book (ISB) at Sam's Club is a monthly Members catalog that showcases new and discount offers on club products and services. As Senior Art Director at Dentsu Creative, I work on original photography and layout design for 4-5 issues per year.
The process involves planning each issue, from crafting stories with the Content Strategist around featured products to developing a pagination flat plan. The art directors then curate mood boards to visualize each issue’s themes and begin concepting original photography using digital sketches. After client approval, we start the pre-pro process for photoshoot to set up the crews (photographers, food stylists, prop stylists, wardrobe/make up, etc.).

Gucha Gucha and The Vintage Royalty joined forces for their first-ever collaboration of a glamorous remix of aesthetics and nostalgia centered around a classic checker pattern. We look to our pasts to create a feeling of reminiscence that's bold enough to exist in the future.
With 3 pairs of earrings, Past かこ, Present げんざい, Future みらい, and decade-defining wall art reinterpretations, we present Checker / Ichimatsu Moyou (市松模様).
